Times When You May Call Your Car Insurance Agent

Posted on

Your car insurance agent can be a big help to you for many reasons. When you read this information, you will see just how much assistance they will be able to offer you over the years. Here are some examples of times when you might want to contact your car insurance agent in order to get assistance.

Make changes to your insurance policy

There may be many reasons why you want to make a change to your car insurance policy. Something may have changed recently that might allow you to enjoy a discount on your rates. For example, you might have parked your car outside until now, but now you have a garage. Letting your insurance agent know that your car will now be a garaged car may be able to save you some money. Another reason why you may want to make a change to your policy is to add another driver to the policy. If you buy a new car, then you would call the agent to add that new car to the policy as well.

File a claim

If your car has been involved in an accident, has been damaged, or has been stolen, then these are all reasons why you would file a claim. You can call your agent and request for them to file that claim for you. They will get all the pertinent information from you and file the claim. After this, you will be contacted by the claims adjuster who will want to verify the information you gave the agent.

Give a change of address

It's important for your insurance company to have your new address as soon as you move. Once you have your new address, you can contact your car insurance agent to give the address to them. If you will also have a new phone number, then you will need them to update this as well. Depending on where you move to, you may even find that your rates end up going down some.

Get answers to questions

When it comes to your car insurance, you may have a lot of questions. These questions can have to do with bundling your home insurance, other discounts that may be available, upgrading your policy, or many other things. When you want answers about your policy, it is much better to get those answers from your agent than it is to search for them online and take the chance of getting the wrong information.
